Château Ferrière, Grand Cru Classé

Maylis, our guide, greeted us on our arrival and was expecting us. Parking at the Chateau was easy and we were the only visitors during our visit. We were immediately immersed in the biodynamic ecology of Chateau Ferriere and its charming buildings and surroundings. It was apparent that things were busy with the merlot harvest being brought in and processed, but provided we stepped over the snaking pipes with care, our tour was not impeded. The sideways-on hexagonal 'egg' wine vats were extraordinary (and unique, thanks to Claire). The wine itself is very concentrated. I preferred most the 2015 Chateau Ferriere Grand Cru Classe Margaux, but we ended up buying a bottle of the Orange wine, 'Inspiration', just because it is so unusual and refreshing. A great chateau and I hope you continue with the superb biodynamic management of your land - ultimately this will benefit not just you and the ecology of your land and soil but also that of your near neighbour's in all of your vineyards. D’une visite qui pour nous (dans notre esprit), devait durer une heure sans savoir car une première, a finalement durer 2 heures. D’un accueil naturel sans fioritures, un échange réciproque s’est créé autant par nos questions mais surtout des réponses. Au final une dégustation subliminal…Que dire de plus, tout est dit. Great knowledge of the family wines and history. Wonderful young lady on an internship who took us around and took the time to answer questions and explain indeed detail. Fascinating how the family are using natural plants to support the vines and also natural ingredients to spray on the vines when needed, especially in response to the climate. So important for supporting the environment and longevity of thr vines and the very earth they grow within. We will definitely purchase some of this wine and maybe even the orange wine!! Brilliant and fascinating story of a family of wine makers changing to a biodynamic way of wine cultivation and life. First of their kind in the region and wish them all the luck with it (not that it is needed)!

Superbe visite, superbe guide Nina ! Bonne dégustation avec de belle surprise… Le millesime 2005 est d’une excellence. Un petit like en plus pour le Haut Bage libéral qui appartient à la même famille. Je recommande vivement.
