Prosper Maufoux - Château de Saint-Aubin

We had a very nice visit and tasting at Prosper Maufoux. We especially appreciated how informative and friendly our guide was about the local production. We had a chance to taste several wines and he had us taste an extra one, over and above what we had booked. The location and tasting room are beautifully set above the vineyard. The guide made the experience personalised and fun and even helped with more local recommendations in the area. We really enjoyed and would happily recommend a visit to Prosper!

Don’t get me wrong, I have not been to every wine house in burgundy, but I’ve visited many across Champagne, South Africa, California, Australia, New Zealand…….. and I will stand by my statement that this is an exceptional tour. We spent nearly two hours with our wonderful & generous host. Our knowledge of burgundy, appellations, terroir, history, future, politics was enormously enhanced during this time - & that was before our tasting started. The tasting was delightful, comfortable & interesting surroundings, including a ledger from around World War I. Food pairings were offered with each tasting & we were provided with a notebook which gave tips on wine tasting & allowed us to make notes based on our own & our host’s observations. They have truly thought of everything, plus their wines are delicious. Wherever else you’re thinking of, go here, but be prepared if you go here first, you’ll be spoilt for the rest of your trip!!!

Nous avons apprécié la dégustation et la présentation du domaine, avec des explications claires et détaillées. La personne qui nous a fait visiter a partagé ses connaissances de manière agréable. Ce fut une expérience plaisante et instructive.

Superbe expérience cette dégustation, ça a été la meilleure qu’on ait faite durant le weekend grâce à la qualité des explications et de la dégustation. Prix de vins raisonnables.

Nous avons réservé la visite en français et avons dû subir une visite plus en anglais qu’en français difficile à suivre. La remarque à ce propos n’étais pas bien reçu. Pour la dégustation de 6 vins, seule 2 verres ont été mis à disposition. Pas possible de recevoir des verres supplémentaires car « imaginez-vous le nombre de verres à rincer à la fin d’une visite »! Plusieurs fois, la visite a été interrompu car notre guide a dû vendre du vin aux clients qui ne faisaient pas parti du groupe. Point positif, nous avons pu déguster le vin blanc aligoté ce qui n’a pas été prévu par le programme. Il reste un goût amère de cette visite pour laquelle nous avons tout de même payé 59 euros par personne.

A very nice and well organised wine tasting event! Very friendly and obliging guys running it. The wines are nice and reasonably priced. The caves are very impressive. All is set in a genuine old beautiful building situated just across the square of the hotel Saint Aubin. I can recommend a visit.

A delicious and informative tasting! We ended up purchasing wine to be shipped home. The facilities and beautiful and well kept, while preserving the history of the region. Exceptionally knowledgable staff, who was a great conversationalist and made the tour that much better! We tasted an array of wines, a great value for the level of wines you are tasting. Highly recommend!
