Château Gravas

We had a very nice, beautiful and also interesting tour by the owner (Florence). She gave us a lot of information about the wine and the region. Then we were allowed to taste the wine (6 in total!). Each and every one excellent and honest wines. The bottles are decorated with beautiful labels made by a French artist. In the Château hang several works of art by the same artist. A successful combination of wine and art.

Our host was wonderful and attentive. She had great knowledge and exuded pride in her job. We really enjoyed our visit and learnt a lot about the production and history of Sauternes and Barsac wines. We came away with an appreciation of how hard the winemakers work and the challenges they face especially with the climate. The sweet white wines of the chateau were delicious

Une superbe visite enrichissante et humaine surtout, un véritable plaisir de découvrir l’histoire riche de ce vin et château en très bonne compagnie. La dégustation est pleine d’excellente découverte !

Today, we booked a last minute visit to Chateau Gravas. We arrived a bit early, where the host was somewhat surprised to see us, as she just finished the last tasting. Still, we were welcomed extremely friendly and whilst a minor amount of time was required to clean up from the previous guests, she then fully focused on us. First a walk through the winery, nice to see the domain and the small ara of appellation as well as some very old (80-100 yrs) vines. A short visit to the cellar (albeit not the proper one to prevent impacting the quality of the wine there) and then the tasting. All in all 6 different wines (red, rose, dry white, a semi sweet, a fruity Sauternes and a oaked one) which were all amazing. And with probably the best compliment that even some of the tasters that normally are not per se wine fans, really liked all the wines!) Thanks a lot for having us and showing us your chateau and letting us taste your wines!

Nous avons visités, des vignes et un magnifique domaine dans une très belle propriété, La propriétaire était très accueillante , nous a présenté son domaine , durant 2h00 , avec une belle dégustation en fin de visite. On vous recommande cette visite.

A very pleasant experience. The owner welcomed us in a very friendly way, Chateu has an exhibition of beautiful paintings (the same artist who illustrates the wine labels). She explained each wine in detail (we tasted everything from the dry red and white, to the sweet ones), fantastic quality and phenomenal history. Excellent price for wines, I recommend taking as much as you can fit in your luggage.
