About the winery

Château Couhins is located at Villenave d’Ornon very near to Bordeaux. It has been ranked in 1959 and was for a long time the ownership of a wine merchant family. Today the estate is owned by the INRA “Institut National de Recherche Agronomique” which has saved it from disappearing in 1968.

It was a really nice tour & tasting, our guide was so nice and knowledgeable. She was new and a bit nervous, but she did a great job !

We found out a lot about wine production, organic and biodynamic methods and tasted grapes. We tasted 4 wines and felt a difference between the first and second wines, and also understood how wine aromas change depending on the time it spends in the barrel. It was very informative !

We had a very knowledgeable and interesting guide. He was there to answer all our questions and explain how it all worked. The tasting part was really nice. The fact that there were 4 wines was great, we were able to try different things and see the differences between all the wines!

It was superb, the tour was super in depth and our guide was incredibly friendly, informative and happy to answer all our questions. We got to taste some amazing wines too so would recommend highly. We also enjoyed the visit because the château is doing things differently to others in the region, so it was very interesting to learn about its organic farming techniques and the architectures of the buildings. Overall a great visit and that is why all of us brought some wine from the château after the visit

Wines are fine - started a little later than planned and felt fairly rushed - price is 50% more expensive than what's advertised on webpage

This was an excellent visit with a patent and very knowledgable guide Marina who thought me a lot and gave a very enthusiastic account of this appellation and chateau: a delightful hour all round

La visite au Château Couhins est une expérience inoubliable. La découverte du cuvier et du chai d'élevage révèle une vinification respectueuse du terroir. La dégustation des cuvées était un régal pour nous. Une activité à recommander sans hésitation pour les amateurs de vin
