Champagne Fernand Lemaire

The history of Champagne Fernand Lemaire :

It all began in Hautvillers, in the 19th century, with Fernand's parents, Eugène and Angeline. They grew a few vines, but Eugène's main activity was as a blacksmith in the village of Hautvillers. It was Fernand, their son, who laid the foundations of Champagne Fernand Lemaire. He invested in his own ... press, his first vats and had his vaulted cellar dug into the Hautvillers chalk. In 1903, he launched the first bottles produced on his own estate and bearing his own name.
Three generations of winegrowers followed, perpetuating a know-how handed down from generation to generation. Fernand's great-granddaughter Hélène continues to work with her parents on the estate, joined a few years later by her brother Benoit. Since 2022, both have been officially at the head of the family business, representing the 4th generation.

The vineyards of Hautvillers, the "Cradle of Champagne":

Our vineyard covers an area of 7 hectares, classified as 1er Cru in Hautvillers. We grow the three emblematic Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. Our vineyards are cultivated using sustainable methods to guarantee the quality of our vines and grapes and respect for the environment. Our vineyard has the High Environmental Value (HVE) label, and we are a member of the Fédération des Vignerons Indépendants de Champagne.

The stages in the production of our Champagne :

Each of these stages is carried out in our cellar and by us in order to guarantee their control and quality. To preserve the natural characteristics of our terroir and our musts, we use a traditional 2,000 kg press.
